Lokal is an addition to Jersey City’s revitalized dining scene. Keeping to its namesake, the restaurant incorporates fresh and locally sourced ingredients from the Garden State. The food menu ranges from a raw bar and other seafood options, reflective of its waterfront location, to small plates made to be shared tapas-style—including pan seared scallops, homemade hummus, mushrooms al ajillio and rock shrimp—a flat bread section and more. There are various vegetarian and vegan options. The beverage menu boasts an extensive wine and craft cocktail program. Lokal has a large bar area, several private dining spaces and floor to ceiling windows providing panoramic, jaw dropping views of the Manhattan skyline..

Checked this place out for a birthday dinner my friend planned for me and had the best time! Ambiance was nice and chic-looking with the option of outdoor seating (we decided to sit indoor since it was a bit hot outside). Once we were all seated, our server was attentive and helpful in choosing our cocktails to start off with. I decided to try the Watermelon Sames, which tasted refreshing and perfect for the summer (comes with a watermelon ball)! We also ordered a bunch of appetizers such as the seafood tower, truffle fries, goat cheese croquettes, etc. followed by our entreé, where majority of us ordered the braised short ribs. All tasted amazing and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend for a celebration! Would also come back to check out their happy hour. ~ Hiromi T
I’ve been to Lokal numerous times. In my opinion, they perhaps have one of the most personal and attentive service anywhere in Jersey City. They always have warmly greeted me every time that I’ve been there and anyone who I was with. For a beautiful restaurant such as Lokal, you’d never expect the staff to remember your name or go out of their way to ensure that they offer a personalized service every time. The nicest people truly work here, especially including the front desk, the Manager who personally greets you later during your dine in and all of the wait staff. The food, drinks, and the views are the best in town. I absolutely recommend making Lokal one of your go-to spots for happy hour or just to have as your nice dining experience out. They’ve never missed a beat here, I appreciate you all! ~ Alex L
Imagine having one of the best views of New York City and Manhattan on a Friday night, sipping your favorite drink and having a great conversation with someone you love. Lokal can give you that experience—you just have to be ready to loosen the wallet a bit. We started with the Lamb Bites, which were nicely cooked and came in a good portion. For the main course, we had the Truffle Mac & Cheese and the Grilled Chicken—both were tasty and satisfying. The chicken could’ve been a little juicier, but overall it was still good. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the night even better. We’ll probably come back with friends—hopefully next time they won’t charge $6.50 for a single glass of sparkling water! ~ sam s
