Checked this place out for a birthday dinner my friend planned for me and had the best time! Ambiance was nice and chic-looking with the option of outdoor seating (we decided to sit indoor since it was a bit hot outside). Once we were all seated, our server was attentive and helpful in choosing our cocktails to start off with. I decided to try the Watermelon Sames, which tasted refreshing and perfect for the summer (comes with a watermelon ball)! We also ordered a bunch of appetizers such as the seafood tower, truffle fries, goat cheese croquettes, etc. followed by our entreé, where majority of us ordered the braised short ribs. All tasted amazing and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend for a celebration! Would also come back to check out their happy hour. ~ Hiromi T

Imagine having one of the best views of New York City and Manhattan on a Friday night, sipping your favorite drink and having a great conversation with someone you love. Lokal can give you that experience—you just have to be ready to loosen the wallet a bit. We started with the Lamb Bites, which were nicely cooked and came in a good portion. For the main course, we had the Truffle Mac & Cheese and the Grilled Chicken—both were tasty and satisfying. The chicken could’ve been a little juicier, but overall it was still good. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the night even better. We’ll probably come back with friends—hopefully next time they won’t charge $6.50 for a single glass of sparkling water! ~ salman s

What a fantastic experience! Everything about the evening was perfect from the atmosphere of the facility to the well-crafted cocktails to the delicious food to the stellar service. It was the perfect venue for getting together with old friends and reminiscing. We were lucky enough to arrive just before happy hour ended so grabbed some cocktails and olives as well as both the meat and cheese platters which were great. For the meal we shared several small plates of shishito peppers, duck rillettes, and lamb chops. Everything was executed perfectly and to say that the service went above and beyond is a massive understatement and I am extremely grateful for their care and concern for us. I’ve been to Lokal numerous times. In my opinion, they perhaps have one of the most personal and attentive service anywhere in Jersey City. They always have warmly greeted me every time that I’ve been there and anyone who I was with. For a beautiful restaurant such as Lokal, you’d never expect the staff to remember your name or go out of their way to ensure that they offer a personalized service every time. The nicest people truly work here, especially including the front desk, the Manager who personally greets you later during your dine in and all of the wait staff. The food, drinks, and the views are the best in town. I absolutely recommend making Lokal one of your go-to spots for happy hour or just to have as your nice dining experience out. They’ve never missed a beat here, I appreciate you all! ~ Alex L

We visited the Local Eatery and Bar recently and loved the food, drinks and ambience. The best part was the location of the restaurant with amazing night time views of downtown New York City! They have indoor and outdoor seating available. I had the lychee martini that tasted very good but they also had several of their own cocktails that sounded amazing. We shared 4 large plates amongst us - the sea bass, the brick chicken, cauliflower steak and mushroom fettuccine. Although the portion sizes were way smaller than we expected, the dishes were all very tasty. Service was friendly too. The prices are on the higher side but you would expect that from a riverside restaurant with great views in Jersey city. ~ Neha V

I was very impressed with Lokal. Took two friends to check out the newly opened eatery close to me for a late dinner over the weekend. (All three of us travel extensively and are total wine and food snobs :). To start, there was some excellent and unique wines on the list and we really enjoyed our choices. We all had late lunches so we stuck to the small plates. Again, very very tasty, and interesting choices which we thoroughly enjoyed. Also exceptionally well-priced compared to what you'll find across the river in Manhattan. The service was great throughout. The lady at reception was friendly and welcoming and our server was professional, attentive and friendly throughout without being overbearing. We enjoyed the decor and of course the view is exceptional. Very happy to have Lokal open. It's a real asset to JC. ~ Pieter N

My husband and I worked with Mona to throw a wedding celebration. We had a small ceremony during the pandemic with immediate family members only, so we viewed this as an opportunity to finally have the cocktail hour and reception we always wanted. Mona and Lokal delivered that in spades. The service was absolutely phenomenal - the servers were constantly checking on guests and bringing them drinks on the floor, the bartenders were experienced and made absolutely delicious cocktails, and no one had to wait whatsoever to get a drink. We got tons of compliments on the food, the atmosphere, the view, the service - everything! People were telling us it was the most fun they've ever had at a wedding. Mona and her managers are also so kind, thoughtful, and flexible. We can't recommend Lokal enough. ~ Angel

We came here last night for happy hour with another couple and were pleased with the safety precautions taken. They have QR codes on the tables which you can scan for a menu, hand sanitizer at the entrance to the patio, and disposable menus also available. The drink specials were great ($6 beers/wines) and so were the $1 oysters. The chicken, potatoes, and hummus trio were delicious as well. Our server Christina was attentive and so cheerful. It was a great experience after not being able to dine out for months. Thank you so much for making us feel safe and letting us enjoy an evening on the river (prior to the monsoon haha). Wow! I can only say amazing things about Lokal! I had my wedding welcome party here and worked very closely with Mona, who was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I was so anxious leading up to the wedding and then adding a welcome party only made me more stressed. Mona helped me with everything and made the event planning process a breeze for me! My family and friends absolutely loved the restaurant and its views, but more importantly, they loved the food and the SERVICE! Please make sure everyone that worked this event 4.25.2024 is acknowledged for the great work they did. I recently tried the veggie burger at Lokal Eatery & Bar, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! The patty was perfectly seasoned, with a nice blend of vegetables and grains that gave it a hearty and satisfying texture. The bun was fresh and slightly toasted, adding to the overall crispness. What really stood out was the combination of toppings – fresh greens, ripe tomatoes, and a tangy sauce that tied everything together without overpowering the flavors. I appreciated that they also offered customization options, allowing me to add or remove toppings according to my preference. The portion size was generous, and I left feeling full but not weighed down, which is always a bonus with plant-based meals. If you’re looking for a delicious, well-balanced veggie burger in a laid-back atmosphere, I highly recommend giving Lokal Eatery & Bar a try. I would like to firstly thank Sophia! I met her the night before my date night. She showed me around and found a table that I wanted. Thank you Sophia for making notes and conveying my requests!! I would like to thank the hostess on the phone as I was running 1 hour late from my original reservation. She was polite and courteous! I did not get her name but she has blonde hair and glasses. Thank you for adjusting my reservation and getting me the table I picked out with Sophia! I’d like to thank Natie. She was our server and was very attentive to our needs and wants! I had a great dining experience at Lokal! The food was delicious. The menu offered plenty of variety, and everything we tried was enjoyable. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. I also appreciated how accommodating they were with my service dog, making us feel comfortable and welcome. The ambiance was pleasant—warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal. Loved the food, the ambience and everything in between. Food - The Arancini, eggplant caponata and truffle hand cut fries were perfect and oh so yum! We also ordered the maitake mushrooms and crispy cauliflower. The mushrooms were a little bland for our taste and the cauliflower didn't feel like all the spices were well mixed. Nevertheless it wasn't bad. The cocktails that we had were good as well. I loved the espresso Martini though. Felt like drinking a cold version of the Irish coffee. We had the creme brulee for dessert and it was to die for 😋 The service was excellent and everyone that attended to us were warm and welcoming. Special note to the lovely guy in the blue suit (manager maybe?) that came over to ask us twice if our food was okay - if you're reading this - I should've given you this feedback in person instead of cutting you off asking for the cheque 😬. We have a wonderful dinner for our special night with our favorite view of New York City skyline Starting from the first welcome from the wonderful host we arrived early but she we helpful the seat us right away (thank you) Food was great lucky we came during the happy hour (everything in the great deal). The most fabulous thing is our attentive server which always help us for everything always come and check us for every course of meal Thank you very much Anastasiya (you the best server 5⭐️) you really made our day. If you want to sell your friends on why Jersey City is great, bring them to Lokal. Lokal is the whole package - it has incredible views of the skyline, a great, open dining room, delicious food, great drinks, and beautiful art that matches the Jersey City vibe perfectly. Lokal is fun for anytime of the day and for any occasion, but I especially love their brunch. My brunch recommendation is to split two meals with a friend - one of you get the croque Monsieur, and the other gets shakshuka. Split the croque Monsieur and dip it in the shakshuka. It’s like a grilled cheese dipped in tomato soup but 100x better. ~ Jake C

Love this place! The food and views are absolutely incredible. Yummy things I’ve ordered and am still thinking about… -parmesan creme brulee cheese dip with cotton candy grapes -tuna tartar (the broth and avocado paired together at the bottom makes this soo good!) -oysters (so clean and not fishy) -coq au vin chicken with pearl onions and taglatelle -lazy (no shell) lobster with slightly spicy curry sauce, tuna tar tar -my brother said the steak was the best he ever had -salmon was cooked perfectly The servers are so nice and down to earth which is refreshing too. Came here for a Happy Hour and enjoyed the views with $1 Oysters. The oysters were pretty good and we got some apps that were 3 for $30. The Brussels Sprouts and Potatoes Bravas were actually really good with their aioli sauce. The Calamari was crispy and good but I wish I tried another dish since it was basic. The server wasn’t clear about the Happy Hour beer list so I ended up reserving an IPA that was full price. Overall tho good service and we sat on the patio section to enjoy an Incredible view! I will be back for sure and I recommend others to try their happy hour menu too. ~ Arun G

Love the vibe here, view of the city is phenomenal! Came to dinner with a girlfriend on a Friday night, the staff are very welcoming from the door. The drink menu is great I wanted to try them all! Food had so much flavor the Brussel sprouts were delicious! Entree sizes are on the smaller side but paired with a side or appetizer you should be good. I do wish my server was a bit more attentive (I don’t blame him he did have a few other tables) but the other wait staff helped us with what we needed. Over all loved my dining experience and will be returning! ~ Tyla D

I popped in for happy hour and was very pleasantly surprised. The hostess was welcoming and sat us right away. At least 5 different staff members including the manager touched our table (meaning they made sure our water glasses were full, dirty plates cleared, and checked on us a few times — of course this is expected service but I found the attention from staff to be pretty exceptional). I got a glass of the Malbec and we ordered the cheese plate and some appetizers to share. The papas bravas are delicious! They’re crispy with a little kick from the chili remoulade. Also tried the shishito peppers with garlic aioli, which were okay. I like the aioli they come with because otherwise they were pretty plain. The spiced chicken kebabs were tender and very well seasoned. My only minor complaint would be that the cheese plate should come with more crackers/bread. The view is fantastic, and the ambience is just right. I’ll definitely be back. ~ Fran

What a pleasant experience. The view is beautiful as it’s right alongside water and you can see lower Manhattan very vividly. The prices are fair as far as NYC area is concerned. We had the mussels and short ribs. The shorts ribs were very good. What I really enjoyed besides the view was the decor. It’s a large location with plenty of space. They have a huge bar setup which I’m always a fan of. Plus a lounge area and an outside also. The service was phenomenal. Prompt checkups by multiple waiters/waitresses. None of them turned down any request. Very pleasant. ~ Farid H

I LOVED this place. Highly recommend! You have to make reservations! Staff was friendly. We had Britney as our server. She was very nice, suggested our drinks which I ended up enjoying very much. The bartender also came over and gave us a drink to try since he was coming up with the summer drink menu. I enjoyed that one as well! The food was delicious!! My party ordered the avocado toast, the Mac & cheese, the French toast, & the huevo rancheros. We enjoyed everything! No complaints!! The view was beautiful, NY skyline & water!! I've visited Lokal with both family and friends, and it never disappoints! The food is consistently incredible, with a menu full of delicious options that always hit the mark. Pair that with the stunning NYC skyline views and the warm, inviting atmosphere, and it's easy to see why its so amazing. I went for brunch this morning, I tried one of the best avocado toast and eggs Benedict I've ever eaten—as a breakfast enthusiast, it's safe to say that I will be coming back here again soon! I was there recently to celebrate my mother's birthday. My parents are elderly and don't speak any English. I was impressed that without saying a thing, the waiter knew to come to me each time for the orders. At the end, he even came with a complimentary dessert with a candle on it. Mother was absolutely delighted! I also loved how they did not sing happy birthday loudly like most venues do. He simply placed the dessert on the table and kindly stepped away. I think mother would have been mortified if they sang to her-especially since it's a fairly upscale (and quiet) atmosphere. The food was delicious. You'd be surprised how they could make a simple dish like brussels sprouts taste so amazing!! Service was top-notch, the view was breathtaking and the food was delicious! The prices are all listed on their website so there really aren't any surprises. Thank you for a perfect birthday event! I highly recommend them and will definitely be returning! ~ Jean C
